Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about how PingTab works, for operators and drivers alike.
What is PingTab?
PingTab is a guest-experience layer for tour operators and DMCs. You get branded pickup tracking links that guests open in their browser, with no GPS hardware required, so they can follow their driver in real time. That creates smoother arrivals that make reviews easier to ask for.
Do my guests need to install an app?
No. Guests open a branded tracking link in a modern mobile or desktop browser, so there is nothing to install. Only drivers use the PingTab driver app.
Can I share tracking links over WhatsApp or SMS?
Yes. Both guest tracking links and driver links are ordinary shareable links, so send them however you already reach people, including WhatsApp, SMS, or email.
Can guest tracking pages show my branding?
Yes. Set your business name and logo in Settings, and your guest tracking pages carry your branding instead of a generic page.
Does my driver need to install an app?
Yes. The driver app shares the live location that powers the guest tracking link. When you assign a driver to a trip, PingTab generates a driver link you can send over WhatsApp, SMS, or email. Opening that link walks the driver through installing the app and opens their assigned trip.
Which devices is the driver app available on?
The driver app is available on Android now: get it on Google Play. An iOS version is coming soon.
How do my drivers get the app?
The easiest way is the driver link you generate on each trip. It routes the driver straight to the app, installing it first if needed. Drivers can also install it directly from Google Play.
Do I need any GPS hardware?
No. PingTab uses the driver's phone for location, so there is no tracker, SIM, or dedicated device to buy or maintain.
How does pricing work?
PingTab is billed on monthly plans based on the number of transfers you run, with unlimited drivers on every plan. See the pricing section for current plans and limits.
When does live tracking start and stop?
The tracking page shows a live location only while the driver app is sharing location for an assigned, in-progress trip. Before the trip is active or after it wraps up, the page won't show live movement.
How is location and guest data handled?
Driver location is processed only for an active trip when location permissions are enabled. Tracking links are private links: anyone with the link can view that trip's tracking page, so share them only with intended recipients, and you can regenerate or deactivate them at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
